Helpful Felting Tips
-
Always pull wool fibres with your hands far apart — pulling too close together just stretches the wool instead of separating it.
-
Keep your needle moving straight up and down to avoid bending or breaking it.
-
You don’t need to poke deeply — gentle, shallow pokes work best.
-
Turn your piece often for even felting on all sides.
-
Work in short, relaxed bursts of 5–10 minutes to stay comfortable.
-
Kids can help roll wool, choose colours, or decorate — adults handle the needle!

Safety First
-
Felting needles are very sharp, so always poke straight up and down — never at an angle — and keep your fingers out of the way. It helps to use a felting mat or foam pad to protect your hands and table.
-
If you’re crafting with kids, make sure an adult handles the needlework. Little ones can still help by rolling the wool, choosing colours, or adding decorations — save the poking for grown-up hands!
